Mexico Ranks 7th in Motorway Length

Mexico had constructed 6,635 kilometers of motorway (four or more lanes, fully access controlled) by 1997, ranking second only to the United States (91,541). China now has more motorway length than much higher income Canada. Mexico is in the process of building a comprehensive national system of toll motorways that will reach virtually all major cities from the Yukutan Peninsula to the US border. China.

In addition to the toll network, Mexico has free urban motorways in cities such as Mexico City and Monterey.
