Voters Overwhelmingly Reject
Toronto Megacity

In a referendum that closed on March 3, 1997, voters in each of the six municipalities within the proposed Toronto megacity rejected the proposal. The smallest percentage of "no" votes was in Etobikote, at 69.5 percent, while the highest "no" vote was in the Borough of East York, at 81.5 percent.
