Shades of DART:
Charlotte Light Rail Plan Dead on Arrival

The proposed Charlotte transit plan to build five transit corridors and significantly expand bus service is now well over budget, even before the beginning of construction. The plan, which was to have cost $1.1, according to promises made to voters, is now on target to cost $2.8 billion. It appears that the Charlotte plan is now on a glidepath similar to the Dallas DART plan, which overpromised transit improvements and had to be scaled back significantly.
