Orlando Light Rail Project
Killed by County Commission

8 September 1999: According to The Orlando Sentinel, the Orange County Commission voted 4-3 today to cancel its planned contribution to the proposed Orlando light rail line. The Sentinel characterized the vote as a potential "fatal blow."

The light rail project has been the subject of considerable local controversy, and had been kept alive partly through direct direct lobbying of the County Commission by Vice-President Gore earlier this year.
